mosquitto and Fedora

MQTT is a machine-to-machine connectivity protocol which provides an lightweight publish/subscribe messaging transport. It is useful in various way, e. g. for connections with remote locations or just to collect your data from a microcontroller system. mosquitto is message broker that implements the MQTT protocol. It’s available in the Fedora Package Collection.

Now you are able to run mosquitto. For a test run with modification of the configuration. This means that mosquitto will use port 1883.

Subscribing to a Topic is done with mosquitto_sub.

To publish a message the mosquitto_pub tool can be used in another terminal.

Beside the ping output you will get the message.

    Thank you very much for this post! Just it will be great to add info about repository, because in CentOS 5/6 user must install repository of mosquitto.
